Another handmade watercolor card for a lucky dad from his beloved daughter.
Since there are many first generation immigrant in Los Angeles, her parents are one of those who speak English as second language. So she have to write her message in Spanish which goes like this:
"Gracias por compartir todas mis alegrías, y por ayudarme en mis tristeza. Gracias por ser los únicos brazos que siempre encontro cuando necesites un abrazo."
My Spanish is limited to "gracias" and "por favor", which means I don't understand most of the text. But, I'm really nosy so I ran the sentences through Google translator (not that I expecting anything bad, I'm just curious) The translation is one of the sweetest thing a daughter can say to her father.
Here's the translation:
"Thanks for sharing all my joys, and help me in my sorrow. Thank you for being the only arms I always find when I need a hug."
For the design, I want to make something more masculine. Messy, rugged, but still beautiful. I mostly use the Windsor&Newton Phthalo Blue in different intensity, start with a very diluted one and add a few more coats with more concentrated watercolor once it's dry. The first few coats were applied generously to encourage some watercolor dripping. I used white ink on top of the graphic and use the same blue watercolor for the rest.
Let's hope he will treasure this card as a reminder on how much she love him!
