This card will made to celebrate another Indonesian graduates from San Jose State University. The only request is to use the Spartan color and I pretty much have free reign afterward. So I decided to create a batik-inspired graduation card because sometimes you just have to pay an homage to where you come from.
For those of you who's not familiar with it, Batik is a traditional Indonesian fabric design where they hand-painted the cloth with these intricate design. And yes, Wikipedia will explain this better than me.
To complete the card, I use Paper Source's midnight envelope combine with a simple gold liner. The outer envelope addressing is done with ombre watercolor in a new format called Libby's Envelope. I'm a little obsessed with continuous modern script that goes from edge to edge lately so this envelope format is the result of that.
Also, say hi to Arjuna. He's a wayang-figure we received as one of our wedding gifts and become a permanent fixture in our end table. Wayang is basically an Indonesian version of traditional marionette.
Anyway, congratulations to all the new graduates out there! This is just the beginning and you have a long journey ahead of you!
